Cereal Milk Tea

  • Total Time: 15 minutes
  • Yield: 1 Serving 1x

Description

Like most milk tea recipes, this recipe is easily customized to your preferences. Our version is served hot, but you could easily enjoy it as a cold tea. Let the cereal tea cool to room temperature and pour it over ice.

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3 tbsp cereal of your choice (you will only use 3 grams)
  • 1 tea bag
  • Pliers
  • Stapler
  • Funnel
  • Blender or food processor (optional)

Instructions

  1. Disassemble the tea bag and discard the tea leaves (you can save them to make some tea later).
  2. Crush the cereal up into tiny bits using a food processor, blender, or your hands.
  3. Funnel the ground cereal into the tea bag (Note: you will NOT use all of the cereal here, as you don’t want to overstuff the tea bag – a tea bag can hold about 3 grams).
  4. Seal the tea bag shut using the stapler.
  5. Bring your milk to a simmer and pour the hot milk into your serving cup.
  6. Steep the cereal tea bag for 3-4 minutes. Remove and enjoy!

Notes

I love the sweetness of Frosted Flakes or Froot Loops, but you can use any cereal you want. Because each cereal is shaped differently, it isn’t easy to measure. With 3 tbsp, you will likely have cereal powder for more than one milk tea.

Our recipe uses whole milk, but you are welcome to make this hot tea with almond, soy, coconut, or any other type of milk or cream.

Any type of tea bag is suitable as long as you can open it and reseal it.
